It has been hanging by a thread for about 4 days. Max does not handle pain well, so every time I would try to get it out he would pull back. So for days we have waited and waited. That is until tonight. It was driving me crazy, so I grabbed the back that was out and pulled it fast. It came out without Max even knowing it. To say the least Max was very excited. He is just hoping this snow storm will not keep the tooth fairy away.

Hopes for the New Year

I have never been one to make resolutions for the new year. If I want to make changes I usually do when I think of them. I have never understood the reason for waiting for the new year. After all, it is just a number. Anyway, I have found myself thinking about things this new year will bring to my family. We are starting this year off a little uncertain of our future. With Brian's teaching situation we are not able to really plan things out. Which is very difficult for me being the the planner in all. We are supposed to go to Disney World in July. We still have the condo and are tentatively planning on going. Our hope is that Brian will find a new school district to work for sooner rather than later. Anyway, here are some of my hopes/thoughts/goals for the new year.

1. Brian finding employment with a stable school district.

2. Family vacation to Disney World

3. Peace and happiness within our home

4. Good health

5. Time with extended family

6. Attend the temple more frequently

7. Spending quality time with each of the boys

8. Read a variety of literature

9. Having more patience

10. Exercise on a regular basis

11. Become unselfish

12. Rely on faith

My hope is that my family will grow stronger this coming year. I believe every trial shapes who we are. I know that my prayers are heard and will be answered in the Lord's time.

I guess the new year is a time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. So my wish to everyone out there is, Have a Great New Year!

Christmas 2009

Well, Christmas has come and gone for 2009. This season was not exactly how I pictured it. We found out on December 7 that Wellston, the school district Brian works for, may not exist next year. The rumor was it could close as early as January 2010. There was a meeting held on December 14 that discussed the State' s (MO) plan for the school district. It was on that night we learned that at the end of 2009-2010 school year, Wellston would no longer exist. So that means Brian is looking for another PE teaching job. Not exactly the news you want to learn right before Christmas. However, the silver lining is the fact he will still have a job in January. So Brian will begin updating his resume and getting things in order and begin the search. To say the least we, Brian and me, have been up and down a lot this holiday season. We have tried to stay positive and enjoy the season. After all it is about the wonderful gift the Lord has given us in the birth of our Savior.

On Christmas Eve we invited the Bluemel's over to enjoy our dinner of what I consider a traditional Christmas dinner. We had a nice dinner and then played the Wii and "Disney Scene it". When it was bed time the boys opened their Christmas PJ's and one gift of their choice. We also watched "Joy To the World" and discussed again why we really celebrate Christmas. It was a nice evening all the way around until........
At 8:40pm the power went out. Brian and I still had several items to prepare for Christmas morning. All I can say is it was eventful trying to prepare by flashlights. The power eventually came back on at 2:40am.

Christmas day began at 7am. Yes, my children still sleep in on Christmas morning. The boys seemed excited by what Santa had brought and of course all the other wonderful gifts they received. After presents and baths we headed over to Brian's parents house and enjoyed a great meal, more presents, and the company of family members. It was a great Christmas day.

Happy Birthday Brian!

Brian celebrated his 38th Birthday on December 10. We celebrated his birthday by eating dinner at "Red Robbin" and then we came home for his pie and presents. I made him a chocolate pie because that is one of his favorites! Overall, I think he had a good birthday.

I know that I am very thankful for Brian's birth. He has been a wonderful husband and father. I just hope that I am able to bring as much joy to his life as he brings into mine. I love you Brian!

I tried to make a 38 with the candles. It is a beautiful display of nativity scenes from around the world. Max enjoys looking for baby Jesus in each of the scenes. Max was really excited to dress up this year. Mason on the other hand didn't want to wear anything and basically had to be cornered to stand by me to be in the picture. Oh well, I think the picture turned out good enough. I enjoy attending this event because the spirit is strong and helps my family remember why we celebrate Christmas.

The other event this weekend was our Ward Christmas Party. At the party Santa made an appearance and we were able to get another classic Santa picture. Mason seems so excited about Santa this year. He points him out everywhere we go and says "Ho Ho Ho". But it seems he still doesn't like to sit on his lap. Oh well, there is always next year!

Christmas Get To Know 2009

Christmas Get To Know You!

Christmas Questions

1. There are many things about this season that I enjoy. The lights, crowds, food, parties, Christmas movies and presents are just a few examples of what I enjoy being part of. Over the Thanksgiving break my family watched several Christmas movies, and the meaning in those movies are not exactly what this time of year should be about. Don't get me wrong I will continue to watch those movies and partake in my previous examples, but I also want to focus on the "True Meaning" of this season. I want my family to feel the "True Spirit" of Christmas this year. Here are some ways I have thought of for my family.

1. Read Luke 2 and discuss the importance of the Saviors birth.

2. Create a "Home" and not just a house.

a. Show more love to each other

b. Forgive quickly and mean it

c. Spend quality time together

3. Give gifts to others that don't cost money

a. smile

b. open doors

c. offer a helping hand

d. visit family and friends

4. Watch the First Presidency Christmas Devotional

5. Overall, remember what Christ would have us do.

We need to be an example to others and allow the spirit to be with us.

It is during this time of year we celebrate the wonderful gift that the Saviors birth is to us.This is a gift that cannot be measured and lasts forever. It is the best gift one could receive.

Fall Fun

It is time for the leaves to get cleaned up before the next round of rain. But who said it couldn't be fun to clean up the leaves? Max and Mason loved helping us clean up the yard. I am not sure how helpful they were though. Max and Mason both did a great job of piling up the leaves, but once they had a pile it was a free for all. Running, jumping, throwing, and rolling all around was the name of the game. All I can say is, wasn't it great being a kid! There were giggles, and smiles from ear to ear. It was great time for the whole family. I sure love my boys!

And if you are wondering, we eventually got the leaves picked up. It was actually a very easy and cheap costume to come up with. I should also say practical. I like practical. Both of boys were able to get lots of candy. Mason did about half of the subdivision and Max was able to do all the subdivision. I was surprised at how little trick or treaters I saw at the house. I still have a whole bag of candy left. Oh well, I am sure we will be able to eat the other bag too!

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy Halloween.

My Wonderful Husband!!!

My sweet husband brought these home for me today. The sweet part is that he gave them to me to thank me for all I do for him and the boys. It is these times that I am really grateful and thankful that he is my husband. I am one lucky lady to have him for all time and eternity! Thanks Brian!

Carving Night

It is that time of year again, Halloween! Max was so excited to carve his pumpkin. That was until he realized how messy, slimy, and stinky it really is. Then it was okay for dad to do the work. Mason just wanted to color his pumpkin, which was okay with me. I think his hands actually got more color than his pumpkin. I drew the face on his pumpkin and he colored the back. He wouldn't let me get a picture of his work though.

It is a vampire pumpkin.

We wish everyone a safe and fun Halloween!

Treat or Trick!

Pumpkin Patch or should I say Pumpkin Tent

I had grand plans of going to a pumpkin patch and really taking in the season. The only problem is the weather never really cooperated. That is until this afternoon when we were already running around like crazy people. In the last few months Mason has really gotten into trains. Mason has the train table in his room and really enjoys playing with the trains. The weather wasn't the most cooperative, but for a couple of hours we could survive. The biggest concern for me was the mud. In the last week we have received a large amount of rain and very little sun to dry up the ground. Our shoes were gross and Mason did stumble and got mud all over his pants. Overall we had a great time as a family. We survived the elements and had a good day with Thomas the Train.
<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5394103577107563250" style="DISPLAY: block; Max is on the Orange Team aka "The Tigers". Brian is one of the coaches this year as well. We have already had 3 practices and today was Max's 2nd game. Max is averaging 3 goals a game and can handle himself in goal as well. Max is showing some talent in this game. He is handling the ball very well. He is quick and is not afraid to get in there and get the ball. Max seems to enjoy himself. I would like to think that he would continue to play since he seems to have some natural talent, but I am not sure if he "loves" the game of soccer. However, he does have a very cute after goal celebration. I have tried to get a picture of it, but digital cameras are a bit slow to get that celebration. Max likes to score goals and have his team win. We try not to focus on the winning part, but everyone seems to keep score. I just want Max to have fun and learn how to play soccer. If soccer becomes something he wants to continue in we will provide the opportunities for him. If dad has his way, Max will love soccer and will play at least through High School. So I guess we enjoy the rest of season and see what happens next year. Here are some pictures of Max from today's game. Max is number 30 this year.

Family Pictures 2009

In fall we take family pictures. Here are a few of the pictures taken. You might notice that there is only one picture of the boys together. That is because Mason is not much for pictures. After several minutes of tears and screaming we finally concluded that if Mason could sit on me he would cooperate. So in the picture below, both boys are sitting on my lower legs. All I can say is , at least we got one picture of them together.

Our Time in Green River

On September 17 we began our journey to Green River, Wyoming to say our good-byes to my brother Lance. From our house to GR is roughly 17 hours in the car time. Max and Mason were wonderful! It is amazing what snacks and DVD players can do. There were of course the occasional cries from Mason, but all in all the car ride went really well.

The first day we traveled 13 hours to Sidney Nebraska. It is there that the headquarters for Cabela's is. So of course we had to stop and walk through the store. We also decided to stay the night in Sidney. I should have taken pictures there, but the camera was in the suitcase.

After a quick nights rest we finished our journey to GR. Once in GR I had to have Taco Time. It is one of my favorite fast food restaurants. Crispy Bean Burritos are the best! After lunch we headed to my grandma's house. This is where we spent Friday and Saturday. The boys were ready to be free by this time, so they had some fun running around the yard. We were lucky the weather was beautiful for September.

On Friday afternoon we were able to visit with my step mom, Carole, her new husband, Dee, Alexandra, my sister, her fiance TJ and his son, Noah. My cousins also joined us in the evening. It was nice being to catch up with everyone and hear how life has been for them.

The funeral services took place on Saturday. There was a slide show of Lance's life. It was hard seeing some of the pictures. It has been 15 years since my dad passed away, and seeing him holding Lance as a baby was, well I don't have the words to express my feelings. Lance had so many friends that came to by their respects. It really appeared like Lance had touched many lives. I don't have many memories of Lance as a teenager/adult because I moved away for college when he was 7, but I have fond memories of him being a little boy. He was always into everything! He loved to laugh and be around people. He was an adorable little boy with glasses. As he grew older I did see similarities between him and my dad. He looked a lot like my dad. Lance was buried next to my dad. I had no idea how hard it would be being back in GR. I am so sad that Lance had a terrible accident and his life was cut short. I miss my dad more than words can say.

Below is a picture of Lance from 2007.

After the services, we had the afternoon to visit with family. We went to my Uncle Mark's house to see his fish pond and chickens. Max and Mason both loved seeing these things. Max and Brian also got to go for ride in his "hot rod". We had dinner with much of my extended family at my grandma's house that night. It was very nice to getting to visit with my family. It has been about 4 years since I had seen any of them.

We headed home on Sunday.

I am very grateful that I know my Heavenly Father's plan. For without this knowledge I know I would be even more devastated with my losses in family. I know I will get to see my dad and Lance again. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me and knows my needs. For this I am grateful, but I also know that what I am feeling is normal and with time I will be at peace.

My Youngest Brother....

On September 11, 2009 I lost my brother Lance. He was only 20 years old. He had his entire life ahead of him. I will never knew what he was thinking or feeling and that truly saddens me. I have experienced all sorts of emotions these past few days. I have been shocked, confused, overwhelmed with guilt and very sad. I have not been angry because I know he is in a better place. Plus, he is with my dad. It is never easy to lose a loved one. It is painful enough to lose my brother, but I cannot even imagine what his mom and my grandma are feeling. My step-mom has had to bury a husband and now her baby boy. My grandma buried her son and now that son's baby boy. I truly hope I never have to experience that type of pain.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Since I have not posted in awhile I thought I would post a Thankful Thursday.

I am thankful for...

1. my husband and all the hard work he does for our family.

2. my two boys who never allow me to have a dull moment.

3. the knowledge of the gospel I have.

4. my home.

5. my parents and all that they do for me.

6. my wonderful in-laws and their support and thoughtfulness.

7. how well Mason is progressing in Nursery. Max has not been really excited about starting school. Somewhere along the way he has learned that you have to do lots of work at school. However, last night he met his teacher and saw he had some friends in his class and his attitude changed. He is still concerned about the work, but thinks it will now be at least fun.

Being the mom that I am, I felt it was my right to take him to school today and get some pictures. Well, Max was not really excited about not being on the bus. I still have not figured out why the bus is so great, but it is still the best part of school. We did learn that his bus driver is still Bob, which has Max very excited. He loves Bob the bus driver.

Here are the pictures I was able to get this morning.

This is the First Grade Playground. This is another reason why Max is looking forward to school. It has monkey bars, a fireman pull, and a three slide so you can race your friends down it. That is cool!

Max outside his classroom. He will be Mrs. Chamberlain's Busy Bee's this year.

This is Mrs. Chamberlain and Max at his desk.

If you look at Mason you can tell he is not too happy about all this. He cried all the way from Max's classroom all the way home. And to think I thought he would be happy to have me all to himself.

On a side note I went to college with Mrs. Chamberlain. It seems to be a small world. I taught with Ms. Lipa (KG teacher), and went to college with his 1st grader teacher. Wow!!!

Mini Vacation with the Boys!

If only this is how the trip really went. Actually, we did have a nice time together, but this picture is very deceiving. This is the only nap Mason took for 3 days and it only lasted 40 minutes. So for those of you that have toddlers you quickly realize Mason had his moments. The 4 hour ride to the Branson was probably the longest part of the vacation. Mason cried for 3 hours of the ride. To say the least I was little concerned about how the vacation would really go.

We arrived in Branson on Monday around 1:30pm. We did a quick walk through the Branson Landing. It is next to some body of water and has shops and food. Mason enjoyed watching the fountains and Max asked if he could take the money out of the fountain. We only stayed at the Branson Landing for maybe an hour.

After dinner we hit the Water park at the hotel.

The boys had a great time!

We were able to do the Water park everyday that we were there. So we spent the mornings outlet shopping and other attractions, and the afternoons at the Water park. There was an inside part as well, but I didn't really get any good pictures. Plus, we enjoyed the outside part better.

We also took the boys to the fish hatchery. Mason and Max both enjoyed feeding the trout. Max wants to go fishing there. He said then he could actually get a BIG one!

Overall, we had a great time together. I am the only one that came home with a sunburn, so I would say that is a success. Mason had several meltdowns, but we have come to expect those. Max said he had a good time and looks forward to going back. He might be disappointed to know we probably will not be staying at the Grand Country Inn again, but I will share that information with him at a later time. Kimbrough Family Vacation 2009 is in the books.

DISNEY WORLD!

We spent 4 wonderful days at Disney World! Brian and I went by ourselves. All I can say is I LOVE DISNEY!!!!!!

I love Brian too.

We stayed at

It was very convenient. Once we checked in at the St. Louis Airport everything else was taken care of. It was very low stress. The room was just what we needed. The food there was incredible. The transportation to the parks was easy and low stress. I have done Disney other ways and I think staying on grounds is the way to go. (Easy and low stress) Common phrase for the vacation LOW STRESS!!!! Overall, it was a great trip for the two of us. We were able to communicate again and remember why we fell in love with each other. Plus, I LOVE DISNEY!

Garden Grill Restaurant with Mickey Mouse.

Garden Grill (Dale and Brian striking a pose)

Donald Duck and Brian at Frontier Land.

We cannot wait to take the boys to Disney World next year. We have had some really nice weather and some not so nice weather. But when you live in St. Louis you shouldn't expect much different. It is hard believe we are already into July.

June was busy with company. We had a great time when Nana was here. (my mom) My grandma also spent a few days with us in June. Brian will finish summer school on July 17th and then have about 3 weeks off. We have 2 different vacation planned for those weeks. One with kids and one without kids.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to this summer so far.

The pool in the backyard. I looked at many websites to see what small dogs were available for adoption. There were a few available so we headed out one morning to check out a few. The first one I thought from the website would be perfect. His name was Buddy and was 15 lbs . Once meeting him I had some doubts. He was a little bigger than I had wanted and Mason was terrified of him. So we proceeded to the Humane Society where there were a few available. They were not exactly the breed I wanted or so I thought. Once there and meeting one that was named Tungy, I was sold. He is a Pekingese. They do require more grooming than I had wanted, but he is perfect for our family. He is sturdy enough to handle the boys but small enough to be a lap dog. He does not require much exercise which is nice too. He has been great with the boys. Since he didn't know his name we have changed his name to O'Dee. It was Brian's and Max's name choice. I don't think he looks like an O'Dee, but that was part of the deal made with Brian. He got to name the dog if we got one. O'Dee has definitely made himself at home with us. There is little he fears. He also has proven to be magic. When we leave we put him in a pen in the basement. After a few days he learned how to escape. We are on plan 3 of the pen and it has proven successful once. I guess there will never be a dull moment at the Kimbrough's. Wait there wasn't a dull moment before!

Max didn't really want a dog and now he and O'Dee are good buddies. It took place at Windsor High School's Track. Max was concerned about attending Field Day because he felt he was not good at what they had been practicing in PE. Apparently, those fears left him once he was there because he was smiling and laughing with his classmates. The pictures below show some of the activities they were completing.

Here is the star waiting for the action to begin!!!!

The goal here is to build a tall pyramid. It took Max's group a few minutes to figure out how to do this activity. Eventually they did build a tall pyramid.

The parachute an all time favorite! The kids were to keep the balls on the parachute .

Max is running back after jumping over a jump rope. The jump rope was moved further back after each kid had a chance to jump at that distance. Max made it three times around before he was unable to make the distance.

Here is Mason being patient as we watch Max participate. As long as he had his crackers was pleasant. Mason really enjoyed hearing his feet on the bleachers.

There were several other events that took place ,but it was lunch time and nap time so we had to say good-bye and wish Max luck.
